Dealing With Lower Back Pain? 4 Pain Relief Solutions That Don't Involve Surgery

Health & Medical Blog

If you suffer from lower back pain, and you want to avoid surgery, you might think that you're out of luck. Unfortunately, many people assume that surgery is the only treatment option for chronic lower back pain. Luckily, that's not necessarily the case. In fact, there are many non-surgical solutions available for the treatment of chronic lower back pain. Before you give up hope, read the information provided below. You'll find four non-surgical solutions to the chronic lower back pain that has taken control of your life.

Physiotherapy

If you're dealing with chronic lower back pain and there is no relief in sight, talk to your healthcare provider about adding physiotherapy to your routine. Physiotherapy can alleviate the discomfort you feel and resolve the issues that are causing the lower back pain. Some of those causes can include poor posture, muscle strain, inactivity and previous injuries. Physiotherapy can be used in conjunction with other treatment options to help you resolve your lower back pain.

Acupuncture

If you want to explore other solutions for your lower back pain, it's time to consider the use of acupuncture. Australians have been using acupuncture for relief from medical conditions since around the 1850s, with about one in ten Australians now using this alternative treatment. One of the benefits of acupuncture is that it can be used to relieve both upper and lower back pain. Because acupuncture is all-natural, you can use the treatment as often as necessary to relieve lower back pain.

Relaxation

If chronic lower back pain has you dealing with discomfort on a daily basis, it's time to add some relaxation to your life. Relaxation and meditation are excellent techniques for alleviating the discomfort associated with lower back pain. Relaxation can mean incorporating methods such as yoga and tai chi into your pain control solution. These methods work by relaxing the muscles in your lower back, which then alleviates the pain.

Medication

Finally, if you need relief from chronic lower back pain, it might be time to talk to your healthcare provider about treatments involving medication. Some options include anti-inflammatory medications, muscle relaxants and analgesics. However, other options can include injection-based treatments such as steroid injections and nerve blocks. These solutions can help to relieve the severe discomfort that can be caused by chronic lower back issues.

Living With Varicose Veins

When I first started noticing veins protruding from my lower legs, I did my best to ignore them. However, I knew they were likely varicose veins, as both my parents have had varicose veins for several years. Eventually, I went to see my doctor due to experiencing leg swelling and red patches of skin, which turned out to be varicose eczema. I was prescribed the usual treatment, and my doctor discussed surgery to strip out the damaged veins, but I decided to postpone surgery and look at managing the swelling and protrusion of veins naturally. I started this blog to share my own experiences of trying complementary therapies, such as homeopathy, herbal medicine and massage, to manage my symptoms. I hope you find my posts useful and interesting.
